- Improvised Action
Improvised Action Collective (impAct Collective) is a South Florida-based anarchist collective. ImpAct has been involved with a variety of projects in the South Florida community since late 2005. In the past, ImpAct has helped out with important projects such as the Umoja Village shantytown in Miami, University of Miami janitors' strike in spring 2006, the black bloc that organized a counter-demonstration to the National Socialist Movement (NSM) march through downtown Orlando in February 2006, and the Everglades Earth First! action against FPL's West County Energy Center (natural gas power plant) in February 2008.
Some of the active projects organized by ImpAct Collective include Fort Lauderdale Food Not Bombs, South Florida Radical Activist Conference (SFRAC), Downward Mobility literature distro (tabling at local events and schools/universities), film screenings, monthly prisoner letter-writing vegan potlucks, and Critical Mass bike rides in Broward/Palm Beach. ImpAct put out the 4th issue of Brushfire in March 2008, a monthly Florida anarchist networking and news zine. ImpAct also has close links with other collectives in Florida, including Everglades Earth First!, Miami Anarchist & Radical Studies (MARS), The Firefly Infoshop in Miami, Lake Worth Bike Co-op, and Food Not Bombs chapters in West Palm Beach, Orlando, Miami, and St. Augustine.
The next annual SFRAC is planned for winter 2008.
