Everett, Washington , 1910-12 for one term. Member of Washington state house of representatives, 1915-16;The gavel used for Hartley's swearing in ceremony was the same gavel used by his father-in-law Governor David Clough of Minnesota for his swearing in.10th Governor of Washington, 1925-33. Hartley’s major accomplishments during his governorship were the creation of a centralized state highway department and new state timber laws.
Hartley died in
Seattle, Washington , September 21, 1952 and is interred at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett, Wash.External links
