- Endwar (concrete poet)
Endwar is the primary pen name of Andrew Russ, a
concrete poet fromAthens, Ohio , USA. His work has been published throughIZEN , his ownmicropress , since 1990. In that year, endwar (then as Stuart Pid) released a remake ofbpNichol 's "still water" (1970), which is a collection of loose leaves featuring concrete poetry pieces. This was followed in 2000 bypaloin biloid 's "water detail" andGeof Huth 's "water vapour" in 2005. Also in 1990, IZEN released the following titles by endwar: "lmnts r", "entitled untitled" (as annie one), "the pairwise interaction of nearest neighbors", "a/re sequence" (as a. r.), "the subverse wanders off the word", and "from i to Iran". Each of these chap books is quarto sized with colorful covers. Endwar has continued to produce works with large framed pieces for hanging and postcards as early as 2003.Endwar is also one of many experimental poets in the online community active at Spidertangle.net. His work has appeared at galleries in
Cleveland, Ohio , USA, and various other galleries. He has been published by Geof Huth in a number of Huth's uniquely formatted issues of "The Subtle Journal of Raw Coinage ". He created the term "subverse" to indicate a form of concrete poetry he often employs.
