Gas Club are a four-piece indie band from Sheffield, England and formed in 2005. Taking their name from Malin Bridge Sports and Social Club (formerly, and still known as 'The Gas Club') at the bottom of Stannington Road.

The vast majority of their lyrics are written by Tim (vocals/guitar) but everybody has more than a say in the music writing (particularly their own instruments). They describe their music as being "slightly euphoric, slightly moody, indie based music"; their influences are Pixies, Alabama 3, Bonnie Prince Billy, The Cure, The Wild Swans, Joy Division, Teardrop Explodes, Nick Cave, The doors, The Durutti Column, Echo and The Bunnymen and more recently The Strokes, The Libertines.

Previously they have supported Harrisons (Tim's sibling Ben Stanton plays guitar in Harrisons), Milburn, 1990s, Arctic Monkeys, and Reverend And The Makers, whilst still holding down day jobs. To some it will have come as no surprise when it was it was announced that they would be support Arctic Monkeys on their "Favourite Worst Nightmare" UK Tour as Alex Turner was quoted as saying "Gas Club, they've got some decent tunes" in January 2006. In January 2008 Gas Club confirmed that they would be releasing their debut single "Back To War" around March 2008 (the b-side is still to be decided). The single was funded by a small indie label called Dead Young Records and was recorded by legendry producer Hugh Jones (producer) who recorded Echo and the Bunnymen, Hope of the States, and The Bluetones amongst others. They spent 4 days in November 2007 recording at the Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, the place where Arctic Monkeys cut their album.
