WAME (Miami)

WAME (Miami)

WAME (1260 AM, "The Whammy in Miami") was an R&B radio station in Miami, Florida, in the 1950s and 1960s.

The station was popular with teenagers and young adults in the city in the early days of the Rock 'n Roll era, but faded in popularity as more Cuban refugees moved into the city. The "Whammy" officially ended when the station was sold to Mission Broadcasting of San Antonio, Texas, and traded call letters with the company's Charlotte, North Carolina, station WWOK to become a Country Music outlet.

The current call letters of the station are WSUA.
