Hong Kong Third Division League

Hong Kong Third Division League is the third and the lowest level of football competition under the organization of Hong Kong Football Association. It is divided into two parallel leagues: Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League and Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League. The former is competed by club teams while the last is played by teams sent by each District Council in Hong Kong. The top two teams in each league enter into the Third Division League Final Round to compete for the two promotion places to Hong Kong Second Division League.

Format & Rules

* maximum number of teams in Third 'A' Division League and Third 'District' Division League is 20 teams each
* No foreign players are allowed in the teams

Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League

* Each team plays with the other teams once. The top team grants champion and it enter the Third Division League Final Round with the runner-up team.
* There must be at least 3 players younger than 26 years old playing in each match.
* The bottom two teams in the league will not be allowed to enter the league next season.

Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League

* Each team plays with the other teams once. The top team grants champion and it enter the Third Division League Final Round with the runner-up team.
* There must be at most 3 players older than 26 years old playing in each match.
* There is no relegation system for the league

Third Division League Final Round

* Each team plays with the other teams once. The top two team promote to the Second Division.
* The last two teams stay in their original leagues.

2006-07 season

Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League

* Champion: Tuen Mun F.C.
* 1st Runner-up: EU Tai Chung

Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League

* Champion: Hong Kong 09
* 1st Runner-up: Southern

Third Division League Final Round

According to the HKFA League Rules, if two or more clubs obtained equal points, their place shall be determined as follows:
1. Greater number of points obtained in the league matches between the Clubs concerned.
2. Goal difference resulting from the league matches between the Clubs concerned.
3. Greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the Clubs concerned.
4. Goal difference resulting from all league matches.
5. Greater number of goals scored in all league matches.
