Ike Awgu

Ike Awgu

Ike Jonathan Awgu (born on October 14, 1983 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian politician. At the age of 19 he ran for Mayor in the 2003 municipal election, and finished third out of eight candidates with 2.92% of the vote.

2003 municipal election] After the municipal election, he became a columnist for the "Ottawa Sun" newspaper. Awgu hosted "X-Factor", a politics-oriented national television show on CPAC, in the summer of 2004. Studying economics and math at Carleton University, Ike graduated in 2005 and is currently attending Queen's University studying law, he is scheduled to graduate in 2008.

In November 2006, Awgu along with others founded www.youngottawa.ca, to educate the city's young population about important issues in its close mayoral race of that year. See Ottawa municipal election, 2006.
