Limmie Snell is a soul
singer born in Dalton,Alabama .As Lemmie B. Good, he began recording at the age of 11 for
Columbia Records ,Mercury Records andWarner Bros. Records .Limmie and the Family Cooking was the name of the group he formed later.The group had one single on
Scepter Records before signing withAtco Records . In the UK the group recorded three hit singles, "You Can Do Magic" (#3 UK 1973), "Dreamboat," (#31 UK 1973) and acover version ofThe Essex 's "A Walkin' Miracle" (#6 UK 1974).Later, he travelled to England and formed
Limmie Funk Limited , a short lived band integrated musicians who later had success (big or little):Tony Mansfield ,Nick Straker and Phil Towner who formed in 1977 the pioneer synthpop bandNew Musik , and the brothers Paul and Robert Simon, who later joined numerous new wave bands in the late 1970s and 1980s, like Neo,Girls At Our Best ,Radio Stars ,Cowboys International andGlen Matlock 'sMavericks andPhilistines in the case of Paul, and (also) Neo,Ultravox and Magazine in the case of the latter. But Snell's drug addiction ended the band, who toured England all 1976.
