white terror (ca. 1947-1987), it was known as an execution grounds. It is now designated the Machangding Memorial Park. In the past,Taipei Railroad Corporation Hsintien Line had a station named Babachō (withKanji corresponding to "Machangding" in Mandarin), but after theWorld War II was renamed to Peace Station.Persons executed here
