- Hennepin Avenue Line
The Hennepin Avenue Line is a proposed streetcar corridor in
Minneapolis, Minnesota . The line would run mostly alongHennepin Avenue from the Uptown Transit Center throughDowntown Minneapolis (connecting with theHiawatha Line at Warehouse District/Hennepin Avenue Station) to theUniversity of Minnesota 's East Bank, at which point it would become theUniversity/4th Street Line . The line would cross theMississippi River on theHennepin Avenue Bridge .The line would be 3.9 miles long. The track would cost approximately
$ 80,000,000. The total cost would also include a maintenance facility and streetcars, so that cost would be significantly higher. It would probably be closer to $105,000,000.Other Proposed Streetcar lines that the Hennepin Avenue Line would cross:
*
Midtown Greenway Line or Southwest Corridor Light Rail Line (Southern terminus, depends on final configuration of Southwest Corridor)
*Broadway/Washington Avenue Line (Downtown Minneapolis)
*Central Avenue Line (U of M, East Bank, becomes University/4th Street Line after crossing Central Avenue)Ridership estimates for the line are approximately 9,500 to 12,000 weekday riders. (This includes the University/4th Street Line also.)
