Honoré Blanc

Honoré Blanc was a French gunsmith and a pioneer of the use of interchangeable parts. [cite book | title=C.E. Johansson 1864–1943 | subtitle=The Master of Measurement | author=Torsten K.W. Althin | year=1948 | page=41] By putting unskilled labor to work, Blanc vowed to make 1,000 muskets a year for Napoleon. The French government rejected this pioneering effort. It seems likely that this was the same man whose work Thomas Jefferson took an interest in around 1785 and remembered years later as a Mr "Le Blanc".
