Most Reverend Sylvester William Treinen was the bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise, which is territorially contiguous to the state of Idaho in the United States of America. He was a native of Minnesota, having been born in Donelly on 19 Nov 1917. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Bismarck in North Dakota on 11 June 1946. On 23 May 1962, he was appointed bishop of Boise and was consecrated as a bishop on 25 July 1962. He attended the Second Vatican Council, and saw the diocese through the years following the council. He retired as bishop on 17 August 1988 and was succeeded by Tod David Brown.
