NAHB Research Center

The NAHB Research Center is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders. Established in 1964, the center is a source for objective information and research on housing construction and development issues.

The staff is comprised of nearly 90 employees with specialties in building, remodeling, all types of engineering, architecture, applied sciences, land development, market research, education, and communications. Product testing is conducted in the lab and in the field with the help of home builders and remodelers.

The Research Center has provides the homebuilding industry with non-commercial information on new home construction technology via several programs and awards. The National Housing Quality Award recognizes quality achievement in the housing industry. The EnergyValue Housing Award honors builders who voluntarily incorporate energy efficiency in the design, construction, and marketing of new homes.

The Research Center is responsible for the certification of homes for the NAHB National Green Building Program. The are also the secretary for the creation of the ANSI Green Building Standard.
