- Sahar Khalifeh
Sahar Khalifeh ( _ar. سحر خليفة) is a
Palestinian writer born in 1942 inNablus of theWest Bank . After teaching at the university of Birzeit, in the Palestinian occupied territories, she studied Anglo-Saxon literature in the US, at theUniversity of Iowa , before returning to Palestine in 1988. There she founded - and runs todate - the Center for Feminine Studies. She is considered as one of the most prominent Palestinian writers. Her works include several novels and essays translated in several languages, includingHebrew , as well as non-fiction writing.One of her best-known works is "Wild Thorns". An excerpt reads as follows:
