website = The "BBC News at Five O'Clock" is an hour long news programme broadcast each Daily at 5pm on the BBC News channel. The programme is fronted by "BBC News at Ten" anchor Huw Edwards and includes a detailed look at the news, as well as analysis with guests and business, sport and weather updates.

The programme started in 3 April 2006 as part of the BBC's relaunch of BBC News presenters, which saw the introduction of the new flagship programme to compete against Jeremy Thompson's "Live at Five" programme on rival channel Sky News, and to improve BBC News ratings for the hour.

Huw's deputy on the "BBC News at Ten", Fiona Bruce does not appear on the programme, even when she is covering for him on the "BBC News at Ten".

The weather, sport and business updates are generally presented from the plasma projection screen away from the main desk, unless they are preceding each other. "Film 24" appears during the programme on Friday's between 17:45 and 18:00, and is presented by the anchor and a film critic, usually Mark Kermode, from the same area away from the main desk. It features reviews of all the weeks main releases.
