- Vicente Lucas
Vicente da Fonseca Lucas, known in the football world as Vicente (born
Lourenço Marques ,Portuguese East Africa ,24 September 1935 ) was a Mozambican-born Portuguese footballer, who played as a central-defender. He was the younger brother ofMatateu , the first great Mozambican-Portuguese football player. He played for
Belenenses , like his brother, and had 20 caps for the Portuguese National Team, since the 1-0 win overScotland , in 3 June 1959 to the 5-3 win overNorth Korea , in 23 July 1966, in the World Cup finals. He's remembered for his perfect markings ofPelé in many games for Portugal and Belenenses without making any foul, although he has been unfairly accused of mercilessly chopping down the great player, a tackle that should be rightly attributed to another player, Morais [ [http://www.ifhof.com/hof/pele.asp PELE - International Football Hall of Fame] ] .He had to leave football the same year due to a serious injury.
