[http://www.thewiregroup.com The WIRE Group] , or WIRE, was formed to meet the demand for institutional grade real estate in Asia through the creation of platforms which combine a unique set of in-house management, development & construction skills with that of global partners.The WIRE Group was formally established in 2006 by Iqbal Jumabhoy, supported by Woolsey McKernon.

The WIRE Group is comprised of three aligned businesses: an investment management business (both direct & indirect), and a real estate development, and property management services business. The geographic focus includes all of the territories in greater Asia. The original idea was to set up a real estate fund to invest and develop office property in India, conceived by Iqbal Jumabhoy on the one part and separately also by Woolsey McKernon, Yogesh Saini and Mark Fidelman on the other part. In 2005, Jumabhoy and McKernon were introduced via intermediaries and they began to formulate the main plans for the first fund. Some of the other early partners of the team instrumental in bringing together the company were Webcor Builders (http://www.webcor.com) of San Francisco and Santa Fe Partners (http://www.santafepartners.com) of Salt Lake City, UT. WIRE has evolved considerably since then.

Recently, WIRE partnered with the [http://www.protegorealestate.com/ UK's Protego] Real Estate Group to raise a [http://www.europe-re.com/system/main.php?pageid=2616&articleid=9874 US $400 million fund] , called the Protego WIRE India Office Development Fund. The Fund will invest primarily in office development projects, in tier one and tier two cities in India. WIRE is highlighting that the Fund will focus on developments that will be built to international building standards and specifications, as the Fund will be targeting major international corporates, as tenants, who will be seeking similar standards and specifications as they would expect to find in Europe or the US.
