The Birmingham News " inBirmingham, Alabama (U.S.), where he started work in 1998. He won the 2007Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting for a series onnepotism andcronyism in Alabama's two-year college system.Born in Baton Rouge, La., Blackledge is a 1986 alumnus of
Louisiana State University . He began his career in 1986 with theThe Associated Press , and later worked forThe Journal Newspapers in suburban Washington, D.C., "Education Daily" and "The Mobile Register ".
