Spencer Dock

Spencer Dock

Spencer Dock (Irish: "Duga Spencer") is a location within North Wall, Dublin, Ireland. The dockland areas was originally part of the end of the Royal Canal, which still reaches the River Liffey here.

Most of the 206,000 m² (51 acre) site was owned by Córas Iompair Éireann but it has sold this for development purposes, the freight yards that were located there no longer being required.

The Spencer Dock development is said to be the biggest and most ambitious urban regeneration project in Ireland's history and is planned to include waterside apartments, offices, retail space, a linear park and local amenities for leisure activities. Spencer Dock is served by the new Docklands railway station temporarily located on Sheriff Street at the north end of the site which commenced commuter services on the Western Commuter line in March 2007. Under the Transport 21 initiative, due for completion by 2015, the station will move to a permanent location in Spencer Dock itself and connect to the DART network via the Interconnector tunnel and to the extended LUAS red-line.

The new National Conference Centre will also be located in Spencer Dock.
