Open Source software enthusiasts from more than a dozen different countries, for a combination of talks, presentations, hands-on mini-projects, outdoor exercise, and good food and drink.The name Linux Bier Wanderung comes from the fact that the first event was held in
Pottenstein inGermany (in1999 ) in the form of a traditional German "Bier Wanderung" forLinux folks, and since then the group has visited Coniston inEngland (2000), Bouillon inBelgium (2001), Doolin inIreland (2002), Tajov inSlovakia (2003), Schin op Geul in the Netherlands (2004), KillinScotland (2005) and PaluseLithuania (2006).In 2007 LBW was organised by
Hellug , the Hellenic Linux User Group, and was held on 2 - 9 September 2007 in Hersonissos (Chersonissos), in Heraklion Prefecture ,Crete , Greece (Hellas). The 2008 event will be going ahead in Switzerland between 9th-17th AugustA mini-LBW is taking place in Durham, UK, the weekend of September 26-28.
