Aaron Proctor (filmmaker)

Aaron Proctor is an American filmmaker and web designer from San Francisco, California.

He was introduced to cinematography by artist Ronald Chase. This mentorship provided an early and recurring practice of composition and criticism with film productions. Proctor attended and graduated from UCLA to formally study film and design, where he learned from artists Vasa Mihich the craft of coloring shape; from Victoria Vesna the mechanic of selling yourself; and from Daniel Sauter the heart of collaborating data.

Exploring all that is visual communication, Proctor took up web design and development since before the dot-com boom and has since built a web app specifically bridging film, web and design. FWD:labs is a collective for film artists that connects on- and off-line networking. He also has a long-time connection to Boba Fett, the enigmatic and iconic bounty hunter in Star Wars, by creating and curating a unique community website, which is the most popular of its kind, featured in the San Francisco Chronicle (2005), Entertainment Weekly (2002), and U.S. News & World Report (1997).

Of the near-hundred short films shot by Proctor, his work has been screened at Los Angeles Int’l Short Film Festival (2005), Temecula Film Festival (2005), USA Film Festival (2005), UCLA Shorttakes (2004, 2005), Output Int'l Design Competition Amsterdam (2004), CiberArt Int'l Festival (2004), Digital Storytelling at Hammer Museum in Los Angeles (2004), San Francisco Int'l Film Festival (2002, 2001, 2000), California Student Media Festival (2001), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art festival (2001). Proctor has shot films in Paris, London, Rome, and Madrid, and currently re-studying Mandarin to expand work into Hong Kong.
