Background and education
Dugald Bruce Lockhart was born in 1968. His great-grandfather, J.H. Bruce Lockhart, and his great-uncles, Rab Bruce Lockhart and Logie Bruce Lockhart were all public school headmasters and all played rugby union for Scotland. Another forebear, Sir Robert Bruce Lockhart, was an author and adventurer. His uncle Sandy Bruce-Lockhart, Baron Bruce-Lockhart was a politician.
Dugald Bruce Lockhart trained for a career in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, then worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He spent a few years working with Propeller, an all-male theatre company. He has also appeared in The Deep Blue Sea as Freddie Paige[when?]. He has recently directed the graduating students on the BA (Hons) Acting course at Italia Conti in their production of Terence Rattigan's After The Dance[citation needed][when?].Most recently he played the lead role of Jack in The Cage (a play which he wrote and produced with his production company BBL Productions and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, directed by Richard Baron) at the Edinburgh Festival, Richard Hannay in the touring version of 39 Steps and (returning to Propellor) Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors and Sir Radcliffe in Richard III.
