Essex bus route 541 is a bus route in Essex which started on the 29th April 2007. It is operated by Arriva Shires & Essex out of Harlow garage under contract to Essex County Council. It serves local communities of Buckhurst Hill, Loughton, Abridge, Theydon Bois and Epping. It was created to replace routes 10, 200, 203, and parts of routes 214, 215, 219, 220 and 500.

History

The route began in April 2007 replacing route 500 between Epping and Abridge, the Sunday 200/203 between Loughton/Debden and Harlow, and parts of the Loughton and Debden routes 214, 215, 219 and 220. Route 500 had been re-routed between Stapleford Abbotts and Epping to serve Ongar and North Weald so route 541 was brought in to serve Abridge and Theydon Bois which route 500 used to serve. The route also replaced the Sunday only 200/203.There was originally an extension from Loughton Station to Buckhurst Hill Station via Palmerston Road operating on Monday to Saturday daytimes, this only lasted for about 6 months before the section was withdrawn.
