Kaldbaksfjørður on the east coast of Streymoy. The village consists of only one farm. Kaldbaksbotnur andKaldbak were connected to the road network in 1980 when the road toTórshavn opened.The tunnel from Kaldbaksbotnur toSignabøur is now the main thoroughfare from Torshavn to the villages up north. That tunnel was opened in 1992. In the mountains above Kaldbaksbotnur is a valley called ‘Mjørkadalur’ which means ‘Fog Valley’. TheDanish Navy has a base there and, on the top of the high mountains,NATO has some huge radar domes.ee also
