- Fodera
Fodera is an American manufacturer of
electric bass guitar s. Fodera Basses are made in the Fodera Shop in Brooklyn,New York . Vinnie Fodera and Joey Lauricella started their own company around 1983 after dissolving their working relationship with Ken Smith basses. Fodera basses are known for their high-quality craftsmanship, use of exotic woods and natural finishes, innovative pickup systems, and being exclusively handmade. Fodera, although not famous for its guitars, does manufacture a limited number of guitars each year. Interestingly, Fodera's first official instrument was a guitar.Given that Fodera instruments employ exotic and high-end materials and that the craftsmanship is of high quality, Fodera Basses are comparatively expensive. Fodera instruments are easily identified by an inlaid butterfly on the headstock of most basses. Other notable features include an atypical single-cutaway design, an ash neck, and exposed dual-coil pickups with wood covers.
As Fodera addressed ergonomic, sonic and aesthetic issues early on, the company soon found its products in high demand among professional bassists. Today potential customers face a two-year wait for a Fodera instrument. Still quite rare, less than three thousand Fodera instruments have been created over the past 25 years.
Series include:Monarch, Emperor, Emperor II, Imperial, Signature, BeezElite and NYC.
