He was born in
Fiume in 1906 and began to play for theU.S. Fiumana , team of his city; he was a powerful striker.He played a non-official match with Fiorentina under the fake surname of "Bolteni", this was due to the fact the he was serving the military service and couldn't do any onther activity.
In 1928 he was signed up by the barely constituted
A.S. Roma and became one of its the most important player during the '20s and the '30s. He was the first official goalscorer inCampo Testaccio , the first Roma's stadium.Playing an amount of 150 games with the "Giallorossi" scoring 103 goals, he was the scorer of the first
Derby della Capitale , a 1-0 victory againstS.S. Lazio in 1929.During the season 1930-31 he became Serie A Topscorer with 29 goals in 33 games, helping Roma to finish as runners-up.
He left Roma in 1933 for personal problems with
Enrique Guaita andElvio Banchero and was signed up by Pisa.When he finished his football career, he worked as
janitor in Rome, and died in 1983 in misery in the town ofNemi .References
