Henriette Bie Lorentzen (1911-2001), born Anna Henriette Wegner Haagaas, was a Norwegian humanist, peace activist, feminist, editor, one of the founders of the
Nansen Academy , and resistance fighter in World War II.In 1943 she was arrested. As a
Nacht und Nebel political prisoner, she was sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp. After WWII she founded the journal "Kvinnen og tiden" together withKirsten Hansteen , the first Norwegian female member of cabinet.She was born into a very well educated family, the great-granddaughter of industrialist Benjamin Wegner. Her father was a mathematician and her mother belonged to one of the oldest and most distinguished families of Norway. She was educated a Magister in
history of literature .She received the St. Hallvard Medal in 1995.
