Elizabeth Hobart Carver was the wife of
Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery , 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein. She was a widow from a previous marriage. The Viscount and Elizabeth were married in 1927. Their son, David Bernard Montgomery, was born in August 1928.Death
In 1937, she was bitten by an insect while on holiday in
Burnham-on-Sea . The bite became infected and she died on19 October 1937 fromsepticaemia following an amputation. The loss devastated then Brigadier Montgomery, but he insisted on throwing himself back into his work immediately after the funeral.Son
David Montgomery, 2nd Viscount Montgomery of Alamein was born on18 August 1928 . He first married Mary Raymond Connell, daughter of Sir Charles Connell, on27 February 1953 . They divorced in 1967. David Bernard Montgomery and Mary Raymond Connell had a son, Hon. Henry David Montgomery, born on2 April 1954 .Then he married, Tessa Browning, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir Frederick Arthur Montague Browning andDaphne du Maurier , in 1970.He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, of Hindhead, co. Surrey [U.K., 1946] on
