Rider (Fate/Zero)

Rider (Fate/Zero)

Rider is a fictional character from the Japanese novel "Fate/Zero" by TYPE-MOON and fellow developer Nitroplus.

He is a servant of Waver Velvet in the 4th Holy Grail War. Rider is noble and physically overbearing, who prefers to conquer his enemies by winning without killing and controlling without humiliating them. He is not pragmatic, but is a person who lets history run its course and acts according to his impulses. While he is wild and somewhat inconsiderate to others, his greed ultimately resulted in the happiness of the people he ruled over.

ervant Status

Abilities

* Charisma:Rank: A:Natural talent in commanding a large military force. Rank A can be said to be the greatest popular support obtainable as a human being.
* Magic Resistance:Rank: D:Cancels single-action spell execution. Level of magic resistance is the equivalent of having an amulet with charms against mystical energy.
* Military Tactics:Rank: B:Tactical instinctive ability used not for one-on-one combat, but in a battlefield where many are mobilized. Advantageous modifiers are provided in situations when executing one's own anti-army Noble Phantasms or in dealing with the opponent's anti-army Noble Phantasm.
* Riding:Rank: A+:Talent in riding. As long as it is a beast, he can ride up to mythical/divine level beasts. This does not apply to dragon races.
* Divinity:Rank: C:While there is no clear evidence, it has been said in many tales that he is the son of the greatest of the gods, Zeus.

Noble Phantasms

He has several Noble Phantasms, three of which have been revealed.

* Via Expugnatio: "Distant Trampling Domination":Rank: A+:Type: Anti-Army: A trampling style using the Noble Phantasm, Gordius Wheel, "Wheel of Heaven's Authority". Two damage rolls, from the hooves of the divine bulls and wheels of chariot are made. In addition to the physical damage from both attacks, there are also lightning (the manifestation of Zeus) effects, and should the target fail its STR check, additional damage will be dealt. Its damage can be seen only viewing the fact that, with one blow, was capable of damage Berserker at a level that he had to run away, still severely damaged, even with him escaping the complete attack by luck.

* Aionian Hetairoi: "Army of the King":Rank: EX:Type: Anti-Army:Allows the planar manifestation as Servants of Iskander's personal guard, who vowed allegiance to him even after death and became Heroic Spirits together with their lord. The summoned warriors are all Master-less Servants, however each have the rank E- equivalent of the "Independent Action" skill, allowing materialization possible for a maximum of 30 turns.

* Spatha:Rank: ?:Type: Anti-Unit: A late Roman sword wielded by Iskander. It yields no magic, yet Iskander is able to fight on-par with other Servants with it, which is very impressive.

True Identity

His true identity is Alexander the Great, the King of Conquerors.

Role

Rider was summoned by Waver Velvet with an artifact; a mantle once worn by Iskander. This artifact was originally Lord El-Melloi's and stolen by Waver, who intends to prove that his teacher is wrong.

Iskander, the King of Conquerors, is noble and physically overbearing. He is an enormous man who has little interest in the Holy Grail and cares more about conquering the world again, especially now that he realizes the world is much bigger than he was aware of during his life. He is especially fascinated by ordinary aspects of modern life and intends to inform the world of his return, much to Waver's chagrin. Waver has little control over Rider's actions and constantly finds himself arguing with his Servant, who simply dismisses Waver's concerns. However, the duo develop a surprising strong relationship as Rider passes on to Waver his ideals, such has how to be a man. On the final day of the war, Waver willingly uses all three of his command seals to effectively sever their bond as Master and Servant to allow Rider to do as he pleases; however, Rider demands that Waver ride out to battle with him, not as his Master, but as his friend.

In a battle with Saber prior to his final engagement with Gilgamesh, his chariot was destroyed by Excalibur. Fighting against Gilgamesh on a bridge, Rider used Aionian Hetairoi: Army of the King as a final move. However, Gilgamesh wipes out half of the army with his Enûma Elish, causing the bounded field to dissipate. As a result of the instability, the rest of the army fades, leaving Rider with no choice but to charge him head on. Rider rushes bathing in the curtain fire of Gate of Babylon. Upon nearing him, Rider is captured by Enkidu, and slain by Ea. Gilgamesh appears to have had great amounts of respect for Iskander, stating that he would have been ready to accept his opponent's challenge at any given moment. After Rider's fall, Gilgamesh turns his attention to Waver, but chooses to spare the young magus out of respect for the loyalty Waver holds for Iskander.
