Springfield, Ohio when she appeared nude in the May 1982 issue ofPlayboy . Her pictorial was photographed by the famous staff photographerPompeo Posar .Description of the text
She was born in
Enon, Ohio . According to the text in the issue, she married at 17, divorced less than two years later and had a son. She joined the Springfield police force in 1979. At that time there were only two women in the force; there were 148 men.The text continues to tell that Schantz had contacted Playboy. She had sent them some pictures of her and suggested that they do a pictorial about women in the force. It is not clear if the pictures Schantz sent were nude or not. She further states that the magazine called her back and told her they wanted to do a pictorial on her.
At the time of the writing of her article, she had stated that there could be proceedings brought against her for posing nude. She later was fired from the force. Her story was made into the 1983 movie "
Policewoman Centerfold " featuringMelody Anderson in a somewhat fictionalized portrayal of Schantz.Description of the pictorial
The pictorial itself contained six pictures of Schantz on duty. One picture made up to be her night stand, showing her police gear and some pictures, most likely of family. There were nine pictures that featured Schantz in the nude. Three of these had her posed in a purple top with high heels. In another two she was in what appears to be a red silk robe. One shot has her posed as if she is coming out of a wardrobe wearing nothing but white leg warmers and a thin gold chain necklace. Two rather revealing pictures are centered around her laying down and writing in a journal or diary. In these shots she is wearing the white leg warmers once more and is wearing an opened matching white button down sweater. The final picture is across two pages in a completely nude position on a bed.
