Jamie Reynolds

Jamie Oliver Jack Reynolds (born July 29, 1980 in Bournemouth, England) is co-vocalist and bass guitarist of London-based band Klaxons.

Biography

Jamie grew up near Bournemouth, spent his early 20s in Southampton, and was active in many bands from his early teens, most notably Thermal, Real/Sweet/Deal, and Sweet Sweet Cheree. He dropped out of studying Philosophy at the University of Greenwich, instead working in a succession of record shops. On being made redundant he spent his redundancy money on creating a studio rehearsal space with Angular Recording Corporation founder Joe Daniel.

Klaxons

Jamie formed the band, initially known as Klaxons (Not Centaurs), when he approached Finnegan Kid to accompany him to play drums early one November morning and then later went on to recruit Simon Taylor, a housemate of a former girlfriend of his.

On 21 July 2007 Reynolds broke his leg after attempting to stage dive over 12 feet of grass into the crowd at a show in Angoulême, France as part of the Garden Nef Festival. This led Klaxons to reschedule several Australian shows. This is the most recent in a series of injuries and mishaps to befall Reynolds that have affected the band's schedule: a bout of pneumonia earlier in the year forced the band to cancel a gig in Portugal, while a broken finger and bruised ribs following an attack in late 2006 in London led to several gigs being rescheduled. He was voted #13 on NMEs 2006 annual cool list, and made it to #2 in 2007.

Equipment

Jamie uses a white Rickenbacker 4003 bass guitar with a Sobbat Drive Break 3 pedal, but on a few songs live he swaps over to synth and lets James Righton play bass on the songs "Totem on the Timeline" and "Four horsemen of 2012".

Personal life

Jamie is currently dating Lou Hayter who plays keyboard in British band New Young Pony Club. Though the relationship has been neither confirmed or denied by either, Reynolds has passingly mentioned her in a handful of interviews and the NME has referred to the duo as a couple on several occasions. Notably in reviews of Klaxons shows at Glastonbury Festival, Reading Festival, and in the Klaxons NME cover article 'Atlantis to International Playboys'.

The Chavs

Jamie has also played several times with the "supergroup" The Chavs, which also includes Tim Burgess from The Charlatans and most of Dirty Pretty Things.
