Roe Green Park

Roe Green Park

=History=

The now much used park, near Kingsbury, evolved from the park and farmland of Roe Green House, on the site now occupied by Roe Green Village. It was built between 1918 and 1920, useing Prussian/German prisoners of war as cheep labour after World War 1. The park was taken under council controle between 1935 and 1938.The Barn Hill Conservation Group are trying to preserve an old barn on the Barn hill sight, which they think is of local historic value.

Homicide

It made the headlines in February 2002 when the fire-blistered body of an 18-year-old Sri Lankan man was found there. A year later, four other Sri Lankans - including ring-leader Senthamil Thillainathan - were found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. They had also murdered another man in axe attack in nearby Wembley eight months earlier.
