Encounter (Christian event)

Encounter is a Christian conference event that takes place each year in Preston, Lancashire in the United Kingdom.

It was started in the late 1990s by a group of Lancashire based Christians from various evangelical churches with the aim of bringing Christians together for teaching, worship and fellowship.The event regularly attracts around 2,000 people and is hosted at Prestons Guild Hall. The ethos of Encounter is strongly evangelical, charismatic and contemporary. The event embraces the creative arts and multi-media technology. Although not associated with "Encounter", the American Camp Encounter has been influenced by this event.

Each year a speaker from outside of the area is invited to come. For 2007 the guest speaker was the American emerging church leader Erwin McManus.Encounter UK Website [http://www.encounternet.co.uk/]

Encounter is an independent interconfessional a Christian conference event in Longford,County Longford in the Republic of Ireland.First edition planned on 17-20 july 2008 attracts around 200 people and is placed at Annaly Hotel conference hall.The ethos of Encounter is strongly evangelical, charismatic and pentacostal. The event bringing toghether evangelical belivers from around the world. Hosted by pastor Paul Sollitt /UK/ and people from evangelical and pentacostal churches from Bradford /UK/
