North Saskatchewan River valley. In the river valley immediately below Garneau are the Kinsmen Park, the Kinsmen Sport Centre, and the John Walter Museum.Other neighbourhood adjacent to Garneau are Queen Alexandra to the south east and McKernan to the south.
Today, the vast majority of dwellings in the Garneau neighbourhood are high rise
apartment s in buildings with five or more stories and low rise apartments in buildings with fewer than five stories. Most of these are rented, making Garneau an attractive location for students at the University of Alberta to live.
