Buck barry

Buck Barry, 1917-1999, was a Saturday morning kids' TV show. Broadcast on television station WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI. It ran in the 60s and 70s (the show ran as late as 1957 and had been on the air at that time for several years; it may have run into the 1960s but it is doubtful that it ran into the 1970s) and starred the pistol-packing cowboy and his horse Thunder (Thunder died in a stable fire at some point during the show's run; Barry bought another hourse, Thunder II, with audience donations).

Barry hosted the Popeye Theater (the original name of the show was Buckaroo Rodeo) and had games with prizes to be won, much like Bozo the Clown. (Part of the Barry show was a section "Can Buck Do It?" wherein Barry would attempt various feats, such as tearing a telephone book in half)

Barry also hosted a radio show and a different television show.

Born Chet Barry, he had appeared in small roles in Gene Autry movies. He also was in a touring Wild West Show.

He was known for visiting children in hospitals.

Barry retired and moved to El Paso, Texas.
