- Son Quatro
Son Quatro was formed in 2001 by John Acevedo (musical director and bass player), Kevin Ortiz (Timbalero), Mario Duque (Pianist), and Alex Dieguez (Conga). Son Quatro's original repertoire consisted primarily of classic, old school, Cuban music and, in 2004, slowly evolved to include Puerto Rican and Colombian influences as well. Son Quatro has gained much popularity among salsa dancers in the Central Virginia, Norfolk, and Charlottesville area and has gained an impressive following of fans.
The name "Son Quatro" was deliberately chosen and spelled with a "Q". "They are four", translates to "son cuatro". The name "Son Quatro" also aims at describing the essence of the band's music which is centered around the Cuban style known as "Son".
In 2004, Son Quatro began adding more members to the band, thereby facilitating more complex musical arrangements to include multi brass, bongo, and several more vocalists and percussionists.
Since then, Son Quatro stands out as one of the few if not only Salsa Bands in the region that almost strictly plays covers from great Latin Legends of the 70s. Some of these include: Tito Puente, Ray Barreto, Ruben Blades, Fania-All-Stars, Ismael Rivera, Cheo Feliciano, El Gran Combo, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, Tommy Olivencia, Frankie Ruiz, Ismael Miranda.

Performances
In May 2006, Son Quatro played for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Gala and will again be playing at the 2007 Gala. The Hispanic Chanber Gala is always attended by the most influential Hispanic Americans in Virginia, as well as, Governor Tim Kaine. Most of its performances are within the Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina lines and are for governmental, corporate, private and public venues.
On Nov 3rd, 2007, Son Quatro performed at the Landmark Theatre in Richmond, Virginia for the Richmond Forum and Guest Speaker, Vicente Fox (former President of Mexico)
