- Central-Wan Chai Bypass
The Central-Wan Chai Bypass is a proposed 4km trunk road running between Central and
Causeway Bay ,Hong Kong . The original design consists of a 2.3km dual 3-lane tunnel running under new reclamation areas which will be provided byCentral and Wan Chai Reclamation project, [http://www.hyd.gov.hk/eng/public/publications/newsletter/Issue51/Eng/E2.PDF Central - Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link] ] and also connections toConnaught Road West flyover andIsland Eastern Corridor . When completed, it will substitute Connaught Road Central,Harcourt Road and Gloucester Road to be part of Route 4. The bypass will start from Rumsey Street Flyover at
Sheung Wan . It will enter a tunnel at Central, then heads east and has an interchange atWan Chai . It continues to head east under the proposed reclamation areas of Wan Chai. In the original design, the bypass will leave tunnel and have connection withIsland Eastern Corridor atCauseway Bay . However, it is likely that an altered design which the bypass leaves tunnel at somewhere near Oil Street, North Point will be considered.
