Josipa Rimac (born Josipa Čulina,
February 25 ,1980 ) is a Croatianpolitician and mayor ofKnin . She is part of theCroatian Democratic Union party (HDZ ). She was elected mayor in June of 2005 at the age of 25, making her not only the youngest mayor in the country, but inEurope . Promina ,Croatia and spent her first four years of schooling in Knin, until theCroatian war of independence broke out in the 1990s. She then went to school inRijeka andSplit and returned to Knin in October 1995, when the fighting stopped. Rimac studied at the school of economics where she also learned theEnglish language . She also spent a lot of time volunteering for the localRed Cross in Knin, and in 2000 was named director of the Red Cross in the city of Knin, the youngest director in the country. In 2005, Rimac was promoted to director of the Red Cross inŠibenik-Knin County (all which was volunteer work). She has been involved with politics since school, and became a member of the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union). OnJune 10 ,2005 , she was elected mayor of Knin.Rimac is married with a young daughter.
