- Purplemelon
The
London -based pop band Purplemelon were formed in 2005 by 17-year-old Sussex public school boys Tom Hill,Danny Atkinson and Eric Joyce. The band went through six changes of line-up before finally settling in 2008 on Tom Hill (lead vocals, guitar), Eric Joyce (bass), Owen Barry (guitar) and Jason Ganberg (drums). The band is distinct in having TWO virtuoso lead guitarists. Purplemelon's neo-70s sound blends white funk with melody-driven stadium pop in the style of Queen,Aerosmith ,The Average White Band and other influences includingThe Rolling Stones andStevie Wonder .Purplemelon began public performances at Barfly,
Birmingham , where they appeared twice a week from September to December 2006. [cite news
