He is also Professor of Biomolecular Engineering and Director of the Center for Biomolecular Science and Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz; director of the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) on the UC Santa Cruz campus; and a consulting professor at Stanford University School of Medicine and UC San Francisco Biopharmaceutical Sciences Department.
David Haussler received his Ph.D. in computer science from University of Colorado at Boulder in 1982. He is member of National Academy of Sciences and member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences.[1][2]
He was recently profiled[3] by the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and also[4] in Nature Biotechnology, describing his lab's significant contributions to the Human Genome Project and his work on genome evolution.
