Valora goes back to the Schweizer Chocoladen & Colonialhaus, which was founded in
Olten, Switzerland in 1905, which later became known as Merkur AG. In 1986, Merkur AG was made into aholding company , Merkur Holding AG, and in 1996, the company was renamed to todays Valora Holding AG.Divisions
Valora Retail
Valora Retail contributes with around 55 per cent of the group turnover selling to end-consumers. The core of Valora Retail is the kiosk/convenience store chain k kiosk. Valora Retail also operates kiosks/convenience stores named avec in medium sized Swiss railroad stations in cooperation with
Migros .Valora Press & Books
This division makes up for around 20 per cent of the group turnover. Valora Press & Books distributes printed media to 1'500 group owned kiosks and 17'000 independent gas stations, kiosks and retailers selling printed media.
Valora Trade
"Valora Trade" deals with production, distribution and trading of food. The division contributes with around 25 per cent of total group turnover. Some of the brands held by Valora Trade include Roland (biscuits, confectionery), the Swedish brand Gille (confectionery) and the Norwegian brand Sørlandschips (potato chips).
