Valerij Mihajlovič Nikolaevskij ("Waleri Michailowitsch Nikolaewski", _ru. Валерий Михайлович Николаевский) (born
July 31 ,1939 inMoscow ) is a Russianauthor andpoet .Biography
Valerij Nikolaevskij was born in
Moscow on the "Krasnaya Presna".By age fifteen he had begun working for theCommunist party inAltai andSiberia . Later he held other jobs, including construction and a position with the Russian civil fleet. Nikolaevskij also became leader of a young Communist group inChukotka . However, because of his criticisms of theSoviet leaderNikita Khrushchev , he was banished from the group.Later he became the director of the theater, literature union and the "club of creative intelligence" in
Tolyatti ,Russia . In 1987, he became the head of the new historical literary center House of Repin ( _ru. Дом Репина), on theVolga .Nikolaevskij went on to write important historical works about the early
Russian Empire and aboutAncient Rome . His Russian novel "Me, Sinner, with the Words of Truth" wascensored in Russia for more than 22 years. During Mikhail Gorbachev's administration it was finally published, but subsequently went out-of-print after his resignation. His book "The Secrets of Kremlin - from the Secret Archives of the KGB" remains unpublished in Russia due to political pressure.After the
fall of the Soviet Union he fled toIsrael , and later moved toAustria . He remained inVienna after undergoing heart surgery; he currently resides there.Works
