The Slessor Glacier (coord|79|50|S|028|30|W|type:glacier_region:AQ|display=inline,title) is a
glacier at least 120 km (75 mi) long and 80 km (50 mi) wide, flowing west into theFilchner Ice Shelf to the north of theShackleton Range . First seen from the air and mapped by theCommonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (CTAE) in 1956. Named by the CTAE for RAF Marshal SirJohn Slessor , chairman of the expedition committee.ee also
