Static Journal Ranking
Journal ranking is widely used in academic circles in the evaluation of a journal's impact. Although there are several websites that release rankings of journals in specific areas of research, their audiences have only static access to ranking reports. Namely, these sites provide no facilities to change the structure of categories or the criteria for ranking journals.
Such limitations have severely curtailed flexibility that is required when assessing a journal’s impact within its domain or related domains.
Interactive Journal Ranking Model
The limitations of static journal ranking websites have inspired researchers to design an interactive model to allow users to interactively configure their ranking interests when evaluating a journal’s impact by employing a modified classical scientific model known as eigenvector analysis (more commonly known as Google’s PageRank Algorithm) as it has been widely applied in areas such as image processing, pattern recognition, and web page rankings.
An interactive version of this has been implemented. With the model [http://www.journal-ranking.com/ranking/web/content/whitepapers.html] , users can have the flexibility to evaluate journal impact based on their own interests because the parameters are customizable.
