And the Band Played Rong

"And the Band Played Rong" is an episode of the Jetix television series, Pucca. In it, the chefs hold a music contest for a new restaurant ad.

The episode begins with the three chefs sitting on a sofa watching TV when they see another restaurant's commercial. Uncle Dumpling says that they should hold a music contest for their own ad. Pucca peeks through the door to hear the chefs what they're saying. Then, she goes over to Ching's house to help win the music contest. However, they're not without competition. Many, including Garu who plays an erhu, also hope to win. Tobe and some ninjas want to ruin the music contest. However, at the music contest, various people are doing musical performances until a gong is heard after a turn. When it is Garu's turn, he plays an erhu solo that causes the chefs to sleep (First time, frowning, second time, smiling). Uncle Dumpling says that Garu's song is nice, but boring. Tobe interrupts Garu's solo and stars doing an act to spite him. Meanwhile at Ching's house, Pucca and Ching are playing music when Abyo arrives and says that they can win the contest together. But to get in the band, Abyo has to wear a dress! Meanwhile back at Pucca's house, Garu, already angry with Tobe insulting him, truly loses it when Tobe insults Pucca. He uses his erhu as a spear. Tobe and Garu fight until Pucca, Ching and Abyo do an act and win. At the end, we see Pucca and the chefs watching TV (like in the beginning).

In this episode, Ching says that Pucca has a beautiful singing voice,but Pucca doesn't speak or sing. Also Pucca doesn't kiss Garu at all in the episode. Instead, his defensive reaction to Tobe calling Pucca his "stupid" girlfriend has caused much speculation that Garu may return some feelings for Pucca.
