- Desert Dwellers
Desert Dwellers are a group of musicians and music producers that create primarily
downtempo electronic music . The group grew out of a collaboration betweenTreavor Walton (Treavor Moontribe) andAmani Friend in 2002, then grew to include Rara Avis in 2003. Early on, Treavor and Amani's discography included some top selling singles that were released on various underground labels, and with Rara's inclusion two full length albums were produced - inspired by a film score that Amani and Rara had worked on for well known martial arts/yoga instructor Duncan Wong. The two albums - Downtemple Dub 'Waves' & 'Flames' were released in 2005 on White Swan Records, and are available through their website. The collaboration also occasionally incorporates the talents of producers such as Jeff Grossman, Kepi (Jeff Steinmetz), and Craig Kohland. These diverse talents also have other projects that include Kat & Kepi, The Shaman's Dream Music Collective, Cerebral Dub and Amani vs. Teapot.
The name Desert Dwellers comes from the infamous Moontribe collective - a group of dedicated electronic/dance music enthusiasts who have been gathering in the Mojave desert for almost 15 years - throwing donation only events under the light of the full moon.
Their album, "DownTemple Dub // Flames", was featured as CD of the Month in November 2006 on "Echoes", a
Public Radio International music show.Discography
