Parti Québécois (PQ) cabinet memberGuy Chevrette in the 1989 and 1998 elections.She was elected to the National Assembly in a
by-election held on June 17, 2002 with 38% of the vote. PQstar candidate andBloc Québécois (BQ) Member of ParliamentMichel Bellehumeur finished second with 32% of the vote.In 2003 election, Lespérance finished third with 21% of the vote, behind PQ candidate
Jonathan Valois (39%).Lespérance died in Saint-Alphonse-de-Rodriguez in 2006.
