- John Ovenstone
John Ovenstone (born
October 7 ,1982 ) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays for Forfar Athletic. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 13 and a half stone.Ovenstone's career began as a 17-year-old, having made it up from the youth academy at East Fife, though he did not make an appearance for the team until the 2001-02 season, with the team languishing in the third division. Further chances to shine for the team came during the first half of the 2002-03 season, although after being sent off during a game in December, he was not to appear again for the team.
It wasn't until nearly two years later when Ovenstone made his first appearance for Alloa Athletic, in a defeat against Stranraer in October 2004, having spent two years in the lower leagues with Glenrothes. It was thanks to an Ovenstone goal in the FA Cup in January 2005 that Alloa progressed to the fourth round of that season's competition, and ever since this appearance he has become a regular starter in defence for the team, with the added bonus of being able to make a good go of upfield play at the same time.
Despite a poor disciplinary record in 2005-06, picking up ten yellow cards, and a domestic season which saw the team falter in the second half of the season to the extent that they had to play in relegation playoffs at the end of the year, Ovenstone signed a new two-year contract with the team.
John Ovenstone now plays for Forfar Athletic, having signed at the start of the 2007-08 season.
