The WMHS Marching Band was started in the early 1900s and continued to grow into a powerhouse in the early and mid 1980s. The band consistently won both MICA and NESBA competitions in Eastern Massachusetts. At its peak, the program had almost 150 playing members and another 75 color guard / band front members. Notable events in the bands history included playing the halftime show for a New England Patriots game in 1984 and multiple performances in parades in eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Members were drawn from the Woburn High School student body as well as Woburn residents who were attending private high schools without music programs. Annual activities included band camp at Camp North Woods in New Hampshire, the annual Halloween parade, and the worlds best fund raiser, the annual orange sale.
The band was the starting point for the drummer John "Muzz" Muzzy from the 80's band Farrenheit and currently drummer for Beatlejuice
For several years from the late 90's to the early 2000s, the band program was shut down to a lack of interest.
For the 2007-2008 school year the marching band will have approximately 60 members, which although is small compared to the past, it is more than in recent years. During the same school year, the band received new uniforms, which it was without for many years. During the years without uniforms, members wore matching black fleece pullovers.
