Sherman Mills Fairchild was the founder and chairman of many Fairchild Corporations. Howard Hughes was a close friend who stayed at Fairchild's Lond Island Estate when he came to New York. Mr. Fairchild formed two charitable Foundations, the Fairchild Foundation and theSherman Fairchild Foundation during his lifetime. Upon his death on March 28, 1971 he left the bulk of his 200+ million dollar estate to his Foundations.The
